We live our lives on automatic pilot as if we are hard wired to do the same thing day in and day out. Just observe yourself in the morning. You may dress in the same order right down to which sock or shoe you put on first. We go to work, do what “needs” to be done, and push ourselves beyond our continuous capabilities. Then we wake up one day to discover our poor health. Good health is the most valuable thing you have in this world. Now is the time to take an active role in improving your health.
As a pharmacist and naturopath, which for some may be counterintuitive, I get many usual and unusual consultative opportunities. These included pre-conception wellness, breast-feeding, infants and child wellness, attention deficient, women’s/men’s health, and cancer. Most are in the area of women’s health relative to hormones and wellness. Women seem to be more proactive in taking care of their health issues.
On the unusual side, a recent phone consultation was to help increase the sperm count for a breeding dog. While this sounds strange, the individual knew what she wanted and had a defined goal. Do you? A great place to start is to evaluate what you want in terms of your overall health. Many will translate that into things such as weight loss, better energy, better sleep, or the absence of some symptom. Most of us know where we need to improve but perhaps have difficulty making that step. This is where a wellness consultation may be helpful.
